As of January 1, 2026, the tax stamp fee is $0 for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs — Silencer Shop includes it automatically with every eligible purchase.
Free State Customers — Suppressors and AOWs
As of August 13, 2026, if you are in a free state and purchase a suppressor or AOW that originated from Silencer Shop, the registration requirement is also gone. No Form 4, no wait. Just complete a 4473 and pass a NICS background check at your dealer — the same as buying a rifle or handgun. The $0 tax stamp is still applied automatically at checkout, but no Form 4 is filed.
NFA State Customers and SBRs/SBSs — Form 4 Still Required
If you are in an NFA state (AK, CO, CT, GA, MI, MS, MT, NV, NC, ND, OH, OR, PA, WA, WI), state law still requires a Form 4 for suppressors and AOWs. The $0 stamp is included and the standard transfer process applies.
SBRs and SBSs require a Form 4 in all states — the ruling does not cover these items. The $0 stamp still applies but the Form 4 process remains in place.
